The Shuttles & Transportation Driver will provide safe and efficient transportation for all Shuttles & Transportation operations including fixed shuttle lines, Gold Zone operation, service learning operations, and chartered transportation for university departments and organizations. Additional responsibilities include providing general operational support to management as assigned.
The incumbent in this job is designated as essential staff and as such may be required to be on duty and available during all emergency situations as directed by the supervisor, manager, director and/or higher authority.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesBasic geographic knowledge of the greater New Orleans area including streets and places of interest
Ability to maintain a current valid and unrestricted (not including corrective lens needs) U.S. Commercial (Class B) Driver's License with a Passenger (P) endorsement, along with the required DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate (Medical Card)
Friendly personality with excellent customer service skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Must be punctual, reliable, and have the ability to safely and effectively transport customers in strict adherence to established policies, procedures and transportation timelines
Availability to work evenings, weekends and emergency shifts as assigned
Availability to periodically work during non-traditional work hours which include evenings and weekends
Ability to quickly learn physical locations (buildings and street names) of all uptown and downtown campus facilities
Excellent verbal communication skills
Two years of commercial driving experience
Must have a valid and unrestricted (not including corrective lens needs) U.S. Commercial (Class B) Driver's License (CDL), and must meet the Tulane University Motor Vehicle Policy criteria to become authorized as a driver
Must have a current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate(Medical Card) by date of hire
Must have a P endorsement by the date of hire
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience transporting passengers in a university transit operation
